• Dear Parents,

We are extremely pleased to welcome you and your child to the fourth grade at Montecito Union School. For several reasons this school year promises to be an exciting, challenging, and rewarding time for everyone involved. First and foremost is the “teaming” philosophy shared by the fourth grade teachers; Heidi Craine, Mark D’Alfonso and Kimberly Konoske. We feel strongly about integrating and utilizing one another’s skills so that each and every child has the opportunity to learn and flourish in an engaging and safe learning environment. We really do believe that together we’re better!

As you may know, Fourth Grade can be a “transition” year as students move from primary levels to upper elementary levels. Hopefully, along with the increasing responsibilities will come a greater curiosity about the world and a love for learning. This year the students will also have more opportunities to become involved with many school activities such as chorus, spelling bee, Math Superbowl, and more.

We are strong believers that with your support, we as partners, will offer your child a year of successful development not only in academic knowledge and skill, but also in confidence, self-esteem, maturity, and friendship. We hold high expectations for conduct and academic growth, and we strive to maintain a positive, comfortable classroom atmosphere.
