Hello! My name is Christina Stokes. I am fortunate to be a part of the amazing Kindergarten Team and share each day with my incredibly “Cool” Cats of Room #8!
My 21 years of classroom experience has been in grades K-6th, regular and gifted education, and in the capacity of reading instructor. I’ve taught in Texas, Georgia, and California. Many of my previous students have been military dependents on or around military bases. My husband’s job brought us to Santa Barbara 10 years ago and I have had the honor to call MUS “home” for the past 10 years. MUS is truly the BEST of the BEST! Each classroom and campus experience in my professional career has been very fulfilling and rewarding.
I strive for my classroom to be a place where all children will have the opportunity to show their individual strengths and build upon their unique differences. Integration of Visible Thinking, Reading and Writing Workshop, and adopted curriculum will foster a rich learning environment of thinking and understanding. Through the use of projects, hands-on activities, technology, and cooperative learning I will do my part to encourage and motivate each child to achieve at his or her highest level and continue to develop into a life-long learner.
My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this year. I have two grown children, Emily and Nathan. Both are working and pursuing college degrees here in California. We have 3 playful cats that we adore and are truly animal lovers! Traveling, going to the beach, enjoying concerts, watching movies, biking, and spending time with family are just some of our favorite activities.
Again, welcome to the new school year. I look forward to working with my new students and families!
