Welcome to 3rd grade! I am very excited to be a part of your child's life this year and look forward to celebrating all of the growth and learning that will take place. As you well know, Montecito Union is an incredibly special place full of skilled teachers and I feel honored to be a part of your child’s journey.

I truly love teaching and look forward to every day in the classroom where I am constantly learning and growing. My childhood years were spent growing up in Northern California, in a bilingual family, where much of my early years were spent traveling back and forth between California and Germany to visit our relatives. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and continued my studies at UCSB where I received my teaching credential and Masters degree. I more recently completed further graduate studies through the Harvard Graduate School of Education with an emphasis on high quality instruction and personal delivery, focusing on methods in Teaching for Understanding and Visible Thinking.  This summer I attended Project Zero at Harvard, where I worked with individuals from around the world to broaden my understanding of thinking and learning. I also attending the reading and writing workshops through Columbia University and look forward to using these teaching strategies in the classroom.  I am challenged to instill a love for learning in students and continue to find ways to encourage dispositional thinking and life skills needed for this ever-changing world. I started teaching at Montecito Union in 2008. Through my career I’ve enjoyed teaching Kindergarten, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.

As a mother of a two, I find myself constantly enjoying the little moments and exploring the learning process. Every day is something new and exciting! My husband, Rob is a landscape architect in town and we have lived in the area since 2004. We love all that Santa Barbara has to offer and enjoy spending time at the beach, surfing, hiking, running, and biking. We also love traveling to new places and enjoy spending time in the mountains throughout the seasons.

Our dynamic and creative third grade team approach works with individual students to set goals and work towards reaching their personal best. Every day is intended to advance and solidify their skills to help them develop a strong educational foundation for their years here at MUS and beyond.

Please stop by to introduce yourself in the coming weeks. I look forward to this upcoming school year and getting to know all of you!
